Hiking

Mossel Bay’s world famous Oystercatcher Trail is an icon amongst South Africa’s luxury hiking trails – but, of course, it’s not the only hiking trail in the area. Mossel Bay is home to some spectacular hiking trails catering from the extreme hiker to easy going Sunday hikes with the family.

Great Brak River Village Walk

A very easy 5km circular walk around the Great Brak River estuary. Start close to the library on Long St and head over the bridge in town. The path takes about an hour and returns across another bridge just downstream. Watch out for cormorants and other bird life around the river and estuary.

Cost: Free, no permits needed. Maps available from Great Brak River Museum.
