This historic village was established before the Second Boer War on the farm, Hemelrood, named after the owner, James Benton Herbert. The area is known for it’s grape picking (in season) and it’s farmlands.
Must-do activity: Enjoy a drive through the stunning countryside.
Drive along the Cloetespass, via a 45 km pass linking you with van Wyksdorp. Although a dirt road it is in a fairly good condition. Enjoy beautiful coastal fynbos, karoo bushes and plants. View more
