Outeniqua Moon Percheron Stud and Guest Farm is home to the Heavy Draft Horse Foundation NPC – a conservation project to protect the Percheron’s future existence on earth.
Come and experience the magical Percheron horses. These heavy draft horses, fondly named the ‘Gentle Giants’, belong to a lost world and are becoming increasingly endangered, in fact, they are rarer than rhinos.
Day visitors are welcome and BOOKING IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.
A scenic carriage ride amidst fynbos on the farm to the Viewpoint, followed by an educational tour around the Percherons, takes place daily at 10am and 2pm – weather permitting. You will get the opportunity to sit on the biggest horse in South Africa, born and bred on our Stud Farm. Day visitors can make use of our hiking / mountain bike trail at a nominal fee – a Day Visitor Package which also includes being able to picnic or braai and make use of our swimming pool, is also available – visit our website www.outeniquamoon.co.za for further information and the applicable rates.
